  • How many postdoctoral fellowship positions are available?  It varies by area of emphasis.  However, we typically have 9 positions available every year.
  • Are there part-time positions available?  No, all fellows are full-time.
  • Is there any flexibility in the start date of a fellowship?  No.  There is a structured curriculum, with a specific number of hours to be met.  It is important to have the consortium begin and end as a group.
  • How many hours are required to complete the fellowship program?  Our program requires a minimum of 2,000 hours
  • May I apply to more than one emphasis area?  We ask that applicants apply to one area only.  We desire applicants who are truly interested in that particular clinical experience.
  • Is it necessary to have a Master’s Degree?  Yes.  Our funding source is the County of Los Angeles.  The position requires a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an academic discipline in or related to the behavioral sciences.
  • Is it necessary to have completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship?  Yes, it is a requirement.
  • Is it necessary to have obtained my doctoral degree in an APA-accredited program?  Yes, it is a requirement.
  • If my doctoral degree is in Education with an emphasis in Counseling Psychology, am I eligible for your program?  No, your doctoral degree MUST be in Educational Psychology (if other than Counseling or Clinical Psychology.)
  • Is it necessary to have completed all the requirements of the doctoral degree by August 31st of the year in which I am applying for the fellowship?  Yes, it is a requirement.
  • What if I can’t get my doctoral diploma until after August 31st?  Obtain a statement from the registrar’s office indicating the date on which you completed all the requirements for the doctoral degree.
  • The application requests a Verification of Doctorate form be completed by my Graduate Program Director or DCT; may I also request a letter of recommendation from that person?  Yes, we will accept a letter of recommendation from your Program Director or DCT as your optional additional letter.
  • How fluent in a foreign language do I have to be to list it on the application?  You must be able to conduct professional services in a foreign language (e.g., intakes, psychotherapy, etc.).
