Postdoctoral Residency Admissions, Support and Initial Placement Data

Our Postdoctoral Fellowship Program is grounded in the Scientist-Practitioner model of training and is designed to prepare psychologists for advanced practice in public sector  settings.  Postdoctoral Fellows are expected to refine existing clinical skills and develop advanced competencies in assessment, therapeutic interventions, consultation, program development or evaluation, and research.  Fellows work in a variety of treatment settings and with diverse patient populations, and are expected to learn to function effectively in inter- and multi-disciplinary settings.

Postdoctoral Fellows that have completed our program have gone on to public-sector settings (local, state, and federal), academic and medical school departments, public agency administration, clinical practice, managed care administration, clinical research, and teaching.

Our APA-Accredited Traditional Practice Program integrates the traditional practice of clinical psychology with focused emphasis area training.  Fellows are chosen for one of the following emphasis areas/major areas of study and focus their training in the designated area:

  • Adult CBT/DBT
  • Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CAP)
    • CAP CBT Clinic and TIES for Families South Bay
  • Community Treatment/Trauma

Applying to Our Program

 DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION

The program seeks to recruit and retain fellows, staff, and faculty who represent various facets of cultural/individual diversity and intersectionality in order to model and increase inclusion and accountability, and better serve highly diverse populations. Our program strives to represent gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, religious, language, cultural, regional, and disability diversity, among others. Bilingual Spanish speakers are  encouraged to apply given the language needs of the populations served.

In no way do we restrict our program on the basis of cultural, racial, or individual difference. Our commitment to nondiscriminatory hiring practices is clearly stated here:  Los Angeles County Policy of Equity.

Fellows from diverse backgrounds may find our program very attractive not because of the diverse patient population but also because of our faculty’s efforts to enhance evidence-based practices for under-served populations.
